Centre for Panchayat Raj (CPR) / State Panchayat Resource Centre (SPRC)

       The SPRC/CPR will strive to Strengthen and improve the Rural Local Governance through effective and systematic capacity building of elected representatives in Tamil Nadu. The primary responsibility of SPRC/CPR will be to accelerate the capability building of the Panchayat functionaries, develop and disseminate knowledge about Panchayat Administration and Rural Development as a Whole, among the officials of Rural Development Department and other line departments across the State and function as a think tank on Panchayat Administration for the State Government.

Centre Activity:

  • Formulation of Strategy for capability building of Panchayat functionaries

  • Development of appropriate training modules and materials and conduct of training programmes for Panchayat representatives and functionaries.

  • Identify training needs of Elected Representatives with special reference to SC/ST and Women representatives.

  • Support District Resource center for Panchayat in conducting training Programs.

  • Development of Master trainers and Resource Persons for training of Panchayat representatives and functionaries.

  • Establishment of linkages and coordination with prominent institutes to provide training in Thematic sectors such as Water, Health,Sanitation, Bio diversity, etc..

  • Conduct of training programmes , seminar, conference and workshops in the broad field of Panchayat Raj

  • Organize exposure visits across the State, within and outside the Country to the Elected Representatives of Rural Local Bodies and functionaries.
